Germany is the 4th world exporter of textiles, but above all a net importer; hiding the two-geared reality of the sector.

Germany is the world largest technical textile exporter with an estimated EUR 7.1 bn of exports in 2015.

Ready-to-wear production crashed by 48% and revenues by 57% over 2000-2013 despite resilient demand, compelling manufacturers to restructure their businesses.

In spite of an EBITDA of 16% in 2014, the clothing retail sector is already forced to reshape their distribution models to satisfy new consumption behaviors: on-line sales are expected to grow by 50% up to 2017
